From the Portland Cup Team
RE:  Decision on the July 8-10, 2011 Event

After reviewing numerous factors – from a situation regarding our fields, to the increased team travel costs, to the US Club Soccer Regional Tournament and the US Club Soccer National Tournament – as well as other factors around the July 8-10 weekend, we have made the decision to not host the Summer 2011 Portland Cup Tournament.  We expect to have our field situation solved for 2012 but the Liberty High Fields will not be available this year.

We are sending this notice to you ahead of the closing date for the application deadline, so that your team has the opportunity to apply to one of the other tournaments that you deem appropriate for the level of competition you are seeking for your players and your program.   

While we won’t see you in July, we do wish your team the very best as the 2011 – 2012 competitive season gets underway in Oregon and throughout the Pacific Northwest.

If you have one or more teams at the U16 – U18 Age Group planning to apply to the January 2012 F.C. Portland Winter College Showcase, we strongly encourage early application and hotel reservations.  The forms will be available at the end of July on our website.
