F.C. PORTLAND ACADEMY
TRYOUT INFORMATION - FALL TEAMS U11 - U14
Dates: May 4th & 5th 2008
FC Portland is synonymous with successful player development at all age groups and known for producing high quality teams at the regional and national level. As we enter this new competitive year, Academy staff look forward to continuing their work with young soccer players who want to improve their techniques and strengthen their game.

From the first Challenge Team of 1986 to the six State Champion Teams of 2006, the Academy has remained dedicated to
youth development. FC Portland places a premium on the skill development of all players who have a love for the game and
who strive to develop their natural talents. FC Portland is proud of its reputation for excellent coaching; we believe that those
selected for a roster spot will realize a rewarding experience.

Who may attend tryouts?
If you are a player in good standing with Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) who was born between August 1, 1994 and July 31, 1999, you are eligible for selection to one of our competitive teams and welcome to participate in Fall Team Tryouts.

How do I register for tryouts? What is the tryout fee?
FC Portland is moving to an on-line tryout and member registration system along with other clubs associated with the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA).

To access this system and register for FC Portland tryouts, please go to the following URL:

http://oysa-fcportland.sportsaffinity.com

At that website, you will create:
1. An account for your family
2. Add the name(s) of your player(s)
3. Submit your FC Portland tryout registration(s)
4. Make arrangements to pay the $40 non-refundable tryout fee for each player’s registration.

If you have any questions about your tryout fee payment, please contact club staff at (503) 493-8364 or kathy.bryant@fcportland.org.

Online registration is strongly recommended and will be available through Friday, May 2nd.

Paper registration forms will be available for walk-up registrants at the fields before and during each tryout session. The fee for walk-up registrations is $50.

If selected to a team, the $40 tryout fee does not apply toward the annual $1250 Team Registration Fees.

What happens after tryouts? Players selected to teams will receive their invitation to become members by noon on Tuesday, May 6th. Selected players will confirm their acceptance and arrange to pay the $350 non-refundable fee deposit (which will be applied to the $1250 annual Team Registration Fees) by 5:00pm Wednesday, May 7th. Those accepting membership will be invited to attend an All Academy Meeting soon thereafter. Following a general introductory session, coaches will meet with their teams to discuss the competitive year ahead, including the start of team training and the Summer Academy program. Attendance at this meeting is strongly recommended. FC Portland staff will be present at the All Academy Meeting to answer your questions.
